Maple Leaf Stadium

My latest book, The Howleyites, talks about one of the best teams in minor league history, one of the best teams in Toronto history, not major league, and they might have even given some of the early Toronto Blue Jays versions a run for their money.

It's about the championship team of 100 years ago and the building of the iconic, but no longer with us, Maple Leaf Stadium on the Toronto waterfront.

That is me in a nutshell.

I write about baseball and lots of it.

And Howley also had the additional challenge of trying to field a winner as well.

But it was a very successful combination.

And he built a team whose peak was going to coincide with the opening of Maple Leaf Stadium.

So Dan was a very well-known figure throughout the International League, very well, very loved and very popular in Toronto.

That's because Maple Leaf Stadium was there for, for, for a long time, and they played there.

And before that, they were playing on the island, believe it or not.

And the famous story about the, uh, Toronto Island- Diamond is that is the place where Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run as a member of the Providence Grays when they played the Toronto Maple Leafs.
