Mansfield Independent School District

And to you and to all the residents.

A Mansfield ISD chemistry teacher is receiving national recognition from one of the country's most prestigious universities.

Dr. Lynn Thatcher of Lake Ridge High School has been named a recipient of the 2026 Yale Educator Award, recognizing teachers who inspire students to achieve academic excellence.

Thatcher was nominated by former student Jake Pham, Lake Ridge's 2026 valedictorian, who is now a freshman at Yale University.

Of 307 educators nominated from 39 states and 20 countries, just 50 teachers and 17 counselors were selected for the honor.

Thatcher, who has spent his entire career teaching in Mansfield ISD, credits his success to genuinely caring about students, maintaining patience and consistency, and supporting them beyond the classroom.

Thatcher says his goal isn't simply to teach chemistry, but to prepare students for college, adversity, and life.

And despite receiving recognition from Yale, Thatcher says he has no desire to teach anywhere other than Mansfield ISD.
