Manoel de Oliveira

I was already publishing, but I think really just starting to figure out, yeah, what I wanted to do.

And I still remember that the festival, which was then at the time programmed by Richard Pena, was really important in introducing me to films by... and Manuel de Oliveira, who I think are, you know, two enormously important figures for me from that period.

I remember, you know, very vividly encountering Lucrecia Martel's La Cienega, I think still like just this incredible, you know, just lightning bolt of a film like as a first feature.

I think one of my favorite the screenings i remember the the most i think 2000 i think was an exceptional year um i remember i was in i saw jajanka's platform at its venice premiere it was like the first time i went to venice and then saw it again in new york a few weeks after that and that was also the year that i saw um I think the film I premiered in Cannes, but I wasn't there.
