Manic Compression

Cypress Hill 3, really love that record.

Manic Compression, the second album by Quicksand.

Oh, right.

And Quicksand, literally one of your top three or four bands in the world.

Well-respected for his work in bands like Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, Walking Concert, Rival Sons, Dead Heavens, and his own eclectic solo pursuits, Shrifles may well be best known for his role as the lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist in the post-hardcore band Quicksand.

Initially active as a quartet between 1990 and 1995, when they released two astounding albums, 1993's Slip and 1995's Manic Compression, and then back together again briefly between 1997 and 1999.

Quicksand seemingly reformed for good to play shows starting in 2012.

Apatow Records released two acclaimed Quicksand albums, 2017's Interiors and 2021's Distant Populations, and the band adjusted to life as a trio featuring Shrifles, bassist Sergio Vega, and drummer Alan Cage.

You know, do, do we w- continue just, you know, playing Slip and Manic Compression, and is that gonna be satisfying to us, or do we try to make new material?"

Mm, mm.

Making new material is...
