Different people will have different views on who a good candidate is, right? But, um, I mean, I'm gonna return to a kind of process.

Like, are they committing to a process that they're gonna use that invites independent expertise to provide a check on the integrity of that process, or are they just gonna say, "Don't worry, we're gonna find the best person for the job, and it's fully our discretion to decide that"? So I think that you're really looking for ideally a party that commits to a different way of appointing, and then you've got to watch who the candidates are, and that can only be done at the very local level, so in Bloemfontein, Mangaung, Joburg, you know, eThekwini.

It's, it's got to be done at the very local level.

And depending on whether or not the ANC wins its constitutional court challenge to put its candidates back, we might be the biggest party in Mangaung.

So Helen, what are the plans for the remainder of this campaign leading up to election day as final arguments are made?

Three, the appeal is granted.

Four, the order of the Electoral Court is set aside and substituted the following: 4.1, the decision of the first respondent, which is the Electoral Commission, to refuse acceptance of the applicant's party list, which is the ANC, and ward candidate nominations in respect of Sundays River Valley Local Municipality, Walter Sisulu Local Municipality, Ngquza Hill Local Municipality, Port St Johns Local Municipality, Umshwati Local Municipality, and Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is set aside.

4.2, the first respondent, which is the Electoral Commission, is directed to do all things necessary to include the party lists and ward candidate nominations mentioned in paragraph four of this order in the lists and nominations onto the ballot papers and all other relevant processes for the purposes of the 4th November 2026 elections.

Five, costs are reserved.
