In fact, their honeymoon was spent on a, on a boat, a 45-foot boat that was created just for them, and they made their way from Detroit, Michigan, all the way down the Mississippi River into the Gulf and ultimately to Bradenton.

So, um, they were here at a very formative time in Bradenton and invested deeply in some of the major institutions that we know and appreciate having today, like Manatee Memorial Hospital, the Bishop Museum, Manatee Performing Arts Center, and the Bradenton Yacht Club.

They met Mary Parker because, uh, Ned Bishop, because of a heart condition that he had, needed full-time nursing care, and she had just graduated from nursing school in New York City.

She grew up in Kansas.
