Right.

And on September 24th, a heavy monsoon alert finally forced authorities to ban high-altitude trekking in Manang and Manaslu.

But the hazard doesn't just magically vanish the moment the ban is lifted.

No, and the timing of the disasters proves that.

We're usually just in Kathmandu Valley and seeing family there.

But I probably want to do Annapurna and some of the maybe even, well, we went up to Manang last time, and I want to do some of the more untouched regions.

I'd love to do Everest one day, but maybe like three passes rather than the usual route.

But I know who I'm going to come to when I want to explore Everest.

There is.

A fully functional Jeep track runs right up the Eastern Valley straight to Manang.

And Manang sits at 3,519 meters.

And to put that into perspective for you, that drive takes, what, 7 to 10 hours now?

Around that, yeah.

Exactly.

And tea house rooms are still cheap, like $3 to $5 in the lower areas, right? Yeah.

And maybe $10 to $15 up high in Manang or Therongphidi.
