The Chris Wolfe Podcast: Why Photobiomodulation Shouldn’t Be Judged Only by Visual Acuity

I'm not saying we shouldn't use that as an indicator.
C

Of course we should.
C

But on top of that, outside of a patient who has reduced visual acuity, do we need to wait until their visual acuity is reduced? I don't think we should let that become the only way we define success.

that photobiomodulation is doing something beneficial to the course of dry AMD, even if the patient doesn't gain letters of visual acuity, which brings me back to AREDS 1 and AREDS 2, because I think that's a really useful comparison.

If I were to put an appropriate patient on AREDS 2, and then five years later, that patient hasn't progressed to advanced macular degeneration, I don't stop and wonder why their visual acuity didn't improve.

A
0:00AgnesHOST
