Mamou

Uh, I never have had turtle soup.

I used to live with some Cajuns that were from Mamou, Louisiana, and their dad would go out, and we had, like, a pond on the property that I lived with them on, and he would snatch up a turtle, kill it, and then go out with his pellet gun and shoot, like, two or three squirrels.

And so we'd have squirrel and turtle gumbo.
