Uh, and also the interesting decision to have Bertie Wooster be, uh, Mako's charge apparently.

And just like, wow, I now appreciate Jeeves a lot more 'cause Mako is not Jeeves.

Mako's still boring, but I think, like, him and Prince Wu are, are such a ...

it did feel like kind of a lot.

I think it holds up probably better in like the character work scenes, like Korra's recovery, uh, like a moments with Asami, uh, Mako's autistic tendency scenes, and even Bolin kind of coming into his, his own sort of kind of, uh, maybe overall worse in plot mechanics.

Like the Kuvira arc moves pretty fast and sometimes too fast.

And some threads like, like you mentioned, um, I think we're going to talk about it, like the gap between like Korra and Asami's reactions and stuff.

Yeah, I forgot how much I liked Ikki this season.

I will not I don't think any of us are gonna vote for him.

But this is Mako's best season.

And I will say I do like the evolution of the other, especially Bolin.

I was going to say that Mako doesn't really evolve much.

He's just less frustrating this season, partially because everyone is kind of done with him romantically.

It's like, all right, you know, you don't get any more romance subplots, Mako.

You're done with that.

Um, Okay.

Before briefly, before we get to Finn, I did want to ask Mel, if you had any followups to the cop stuff we discussed last time, uh, your reaction to cop Mako in this, in this season.

Yeah.

I mean, you know, they're doing like the classic, like, um, police procedural, like when he, when he gets out of prison for being right.

I do think there is at least...

Personally, I think that it's too much of a procedural tropiness story that they're going for, like Mel said.

But Mako's co-workers, those two cops, other cops, they're like, clearly bad and they're not like actually doing their jobs and you you do see a lot of like negative you could argue that they're participating like police incompetency and and them not serving the mean the means of the role of that society needs them to serve so like just at the very least it was less of a clearly positive portrayal of the police force than i remember in book one and that did kind of contribute continue into book two even if it was less interestingly done

But is Bolin? No.

Right? Maka? Or Mako? No, Mako's just a dog.

they're not as lovable and you don't get to spend as much time with them like in in the original avatar we get season two where we get short vignettes of each of their stories while they're embossing sages living their life that's that but obviously it's not fair because cory didn't get time the four season green lit right it is one season at a time um but one thing i i i think a better story this is just me just just making a shit making shit up A better story is to have them be adults.

Like, you know, they're in the South Pole.

There's all this stuff they're throwing at us at once to sort of establish the, like, familial... you know exponent exposition and dynamics we learn you know tonrax actually from the north and actually he was supposed to be the chief and he's not and here's his brother who's like the total opposite of him and they don't get along like we're we're getting a lot at once um and then also because it's it's i don't know how long it's supposed to take place after the end of book one but they're like also trying to establish like okay like there's some issues you know Cora and Mako are having a little bit of you know problems and that so they're like trying to establish a ton and set up these dynamics and once it sort of settled into itself I was like oh yes this the second half of this is actually um enjoyable it's not you know to the level of the previous season but um it's enjoyable and you know, it, it's, it's good to watch.

So that was interesting to sort of go in and like my, in my memory, the entirety of book two is really, really rough and it's really more the first half than, than the back half.

Yeah, no, I, I think that's definitely one of the big takeaways when revisiting, um, six, six months later, book two, they say, I'm looking at my notes and I think they said in the little Shiro Shinobi, um, Intro to the first episode, which they there is usually the previously on Avatar, but I like that they kind of use it as a as a catch up for the time gap.

It starts the momentum heading into book three.

Yeah, and so I give credit where credit's due.

It finished in a much better place than it started, but it just, and maybe I need to do, like, another rewatch at some point, but I think just how unlikable, like, you know, I didn't find Korra very likable, Mako very likable, you know, what Bolin did.
