Maker's Mark

They're, they-

They know, they know what Maker's Mark tastes like and-

They drink bourbon 'cause it's caramel, vanilla, sweet, you know, very basic.

And if you start throwing in all these wild, funky, off-profile, weird flavors, they're gonna be like, "This is not what I was expecting." And so that, that makes it tough.

So the next day, the allotment, I think pretty much anybody who really, really wanted it was able to pull it off.

One of the cool things at the, they had wax dipping at the booth at Maker's Mark.

That was cool.

And I just want to talk about the booths.

And he sees at the top of the refrigerator is some good old medicine.

And so he, like, downs a whole bottle of, like, Maker's Mark or something like that.

Yeah, yeah.

And when he gets out, he hulks out.

We drank bourbon.

We drank bourbon and coke, Jim Beam and Coke, or sometimes Maker's Mark if we had a little extra money.

And, uh, yeah, that's, that was our go-to.

That and Milwaukee's Best, obviously-

He was born in 1906 and he lived to be 112 years old.

He was a soldier in World War II and he smoked like 12 cigars a day and drank Maker's Mark every single day.

And the guy was my absolute hero.

I read into his life a lot and his life philosophy and all this.

I mean, if you look at a company like, I'll just pick one of my members, Suntory, They own Alberta Distilling Limited, so Canadian Club and a bunch of Alberta Premium and a bunch of other products.

They own Maker's Mark, a bourbon in the United States, which folks, your listeners are probably familiar with.

And they own a bunch of tequila brands In Mexico.

So if you're going to retaliate against makers, Mark, who you're really retaliating against? Yeah, I mean, I

And we bottled it, and Justin's House of Bourbon, excuse me, Bourbon Outfitters, came over the next morning and purchased our...

We don't quite have the story of Maker's Mark selling their first bottle to Keeneland, but Bourbon Outfitters and Justice House of Bourbon was our first customer.

They showed up the next morning, and they bought a case of our bourbon, and that's how we started.

Because we had to have a case at retail before the deadline in order to retain.

Um, and I really want to kind of bridge that gap and you guys are going to help make that possible because my weekend is just going to be full of doing, you know, filming and making shorts and reels and just showing people what it's all about and wouldn't be able to do that without your guys help for sure.

That's an

interesting observation because, um, You know, if you're in Kentucky, and obviously you have the Derby, and you have Woodford Reserve and their relationships, and then you've got Keeneland with their relationship with Maker's Mark and Castle in the Keys, so you always think it's a natural relationship.

Damon and I have gone to a lot of international tracks and tracks in other states, and...

Yeah.

You know what? Like I've been to Maker's Mark.

I get it.

Same family as beer, yogurt, vinegar, soy sauce.

So if you go on the Bourbon Trail and you visit the distilleries, right? And you start to realize that those are villages.

So, you know, Maker's Mark, they get their water close by.

They get their wheat up the road.
