Maidstone United F.C.

Welcome to the latest Match Preview here on Stones TV and the Maidstone United Podcast, where we look ahead to our latest league away game when we visit the Hornets of Horsham.

So to the last word on the last week, or more accurately, a couple of weeks ago, when the Stones threw away a half-time lead against the Tinners.

Four without a win now for the Stones, but I keep saying it, still top.

So it's two sides within different form, in different positions in the early league table, both have now exited the FA Cup, and each will be looking for a win that would turn their recent fortunes around.

Our thanks to you all out there, as ever, for watching or listening to the latest preview.

And as always...

Yeah, next club.

Maidstone United loan.

Jesus.

Who have we had that's knocked around?

I will then say it's then followed by Maidstone United permanently.

Hmm.

This has gotta be a League Two player, surely.

Smalling's career trajectory has been defined by his remarkable adaptability and resilience.

After emerging through the lower leagues with Maidstone United, his high-profile move to Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson transformed him into a mainstay at Old Trafford, where he captured Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Europa League honors.

Following a successful transition to Italian football with AS Roma, where he established himself as a fan favorite, earned the moniker Smallini for his immaculate defensive timing, and lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy.

He now brings that wealth of invaluable knowledge to the Estadio do Dragão.

So to the last word on the last week then, Nige and the short trip to Cray Wanderers in the FA Cup second qualifying round saw a one-all draw at Flamingo Park leading to a replay at the Gallagher, the Stones' first one in almost nine years.

That saw the visitors score a goal in each half.

And as always, come on you

But anyways, out with the teams gone up and down here on the new teams arrive with big changes, such as Ipsley United and Sport London Ibanfika or London Ibanfika, I'll call them for short, dropped from the Laser Waffle Premier Division.

and then newly promoted teams such as Cosholton Athletic, Maidstone United, and Tutinbeck, which is not far from where I live, just like down the road somewhere, from tiers eight and seven, although probably not the same place, maybe someplace further.

Before looking at the first few games, this is how their pre-season went.

They played two out of three, which I'll explain why.

Last season saw them lose a replay against Hamwell Town in the first qualifying round and they won a first qualifying round replay this season against Lewes to book the home tie against the Stones this weekend.

Nudge, 50 years ago this very round, Cray Wanderers won 2-1 at home against Maidstone United.

People look for omens in the FA Cup and however confident you can be with the Stones' start for the most part this season, a bit of history that no one in Maidstone's black and amber wants repeating.

No, obviously not, but on the flip side of that, we owe them one then, don't we?

We can just sort of rest a few players and that but you know, go in there, right attitude, set up right and hopefully we'll be good.

Just win.

Maidstone United begin their FA Youth Cup campaign away to Welling United this Friday 18th September.

Their first qualifying round match will be played at Parkview Road.
