Magdalen Islands

That is its native name, and it means the Great Harbor.

From the Madeleine Islands in the St. Lawrence comes Vishten Connections.

And, uh, he don't believe him at first, but he says he saw some stormtroopers, and now that's gonna get us into the next set piece, which is Commander Coyn's compound, and we get a nice fun set piece with stormtroopers, which is always fun in Star Wars.

Uh, it, we filmed it on, uh, Magdalen Island, which is a island, uh, off the coast of Quebec that, uh, Andrew Jones, our production designer, used to see from the airplane as he was traveling as a, as a y- as a child from Scotland to New York, and he always would look down and imagine what was on that island.

It's quite a unique piece of topography.

But this is actual practical photography that he and Justin Vander Wiek, uh, went out to do a photo, a, a plate shoot, as well as a drone shoot, uh, and we added the characters later.

Uh, this is a lot of fun, a lot of fun to watch with an audience, too.

It's fun when you can work Grogu into- I don't think he knows what he's doing ... you know, his, his character into set pieces, too, so you have action and the humor coming together.

Here you see the plate work from the drones, uh, on, on Magdalen Island.

All of these, uh, big, uh, effects hits, those were all done digitally.

It was written by one Madame Josephine Lemaitre and came from a place which, although not very far from his own home, was almost as unknown to him as the most remote foreign part.

It came from the Magdalen Islands that lie some eighty miles' journey by sea north of his native shore.

The writer stated that she knew few men upon the mainland, in which she seemed to include the larger part of Prince Edward, that Caius Simpson was the only medical man of whom she had any personal knowledge who was at the time unemployed.

She stated also that upon the island where she lived there were hundreds of fisher folk and that a very deadly disease, which she supposed to be diphtheria, was among them.

It was not faith, however, that had come to him, only a refining and quickening of his imagination.

Quick upon the heels of these high dreams came their test, for life is not a dream.

Between the Magdalen Islands and the mainland, besides the many stray schooners that came and went, there were two lines of regular communication.

One was by a sailing vessel, which carried freight regularly to and from the port of Gaspé.

Here the big fish took an oath to help their small cousins in their struggle with man, and to punish when they could all who ate or fished the sardine family, and the little fish rejoiced greatly.

One May day, a large ship loaded with packed fish was wrecked on the sunken rocks of the Magdalen Islands.

Soon the ship was broken up by the heavy surf on the sharp reef, and her cargo was strewn along the shore.

It happened that in the cargo were many boxes of sardines, and they too were washed up on the beach by the tide.

And so there's, there's just crazy things going on.

So what totally intrigued me this summer about what happened is the first instance of this flu, it, it was with a ga- massive gannet colony in the Magdalen Islands, and there were dead bird-- Birds started dying, and, and those dead birds started showing up on the coast of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Western Newfoundland.

And so that was curious and, okay, that, that sort of happened.

But then that would've been in May, early June, and then as June progressed, fishermen from the Burin Peninsula, this would be on the south coast of Newfoundland now moving from the west coast.

but it was not long before he came in sight of land again.

About sixty miles from the Newfoundland shore, and thirty miles east from the Magdalen Islands, two abrupt rocks rise side by side from the sea.

Through one of them the beating surf has bored a passage, so that to Cartier's eye, as his ships hove in sight of them, the rocks appeared as three.

At the present time a lighthouse of the Canadian government casts its rays from the top of one of these rocky islets, across the tossing waters of the gulf.

It was fitting that Cartier should name this island of good omen, after his patron, the Seigneur de Briand, Admiral of France.

To this day, the name Brian Island, corrupted sometimes to Byron Island, recalls the landing of Jacques Cartier.

From this temporary halting place the ships sailed on down the west coast of the Magdalen Islands.

The night of June 28 found them at Acre off Entry Island at the southern end of the group.

of course mount wandering is gorgeous what a beautiful mountain range there's another location uh the um the speeder chase uh coins compounds those ghost grassy sand dunes that's an actual real location as well where i went to off the coast of quebec it's called uh I'm going to butcher this.

Le Ile de Magdalen, Magdalen Islands.
