Madison High School

Vince Young, that's his hell of world moment.

I mean, Vince Young was the number one recruit in the country out of Madison, Texas, Madison High School in Texas, out of Houston, and was somebody who you kept waiting for it to start to come.

And then it did at the end of the 2004 season.

But it wasn't until he came in here in one that he was kind of put on the national scene at that type of level.

So it started out really working for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the late 90s, early 2000s, serving in middle schools and high schools.

I remember going to Madison High School, was chaplain of Vince Young's high school football team.

right, when he was at Madison.

And Johnston Middle School, all these schools just around the city, HISD, Spring Branch, A-Leaf, just all around the city.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, I thought that was really fascinating because, you know, I s- I went to Madison High School and, you know, I met with-- I shot a scene actually with Coach Ray Seals, who's...

I will say, Jack, covering those times, I covered the Vince Young recruitment.

I was doing morning radio at the time when Vince committed out of Madison High School and was a phenomenon in the state as a high school player, through the struggles at Texas, through the challenges, and it reveals some things that I did not know, but you kind of had heard, but it confirms a lot of things with he and Mack Brown in the program, and then off to, obviously, the Tennessee Titans.

And we'll get into what is new for me, but also what was new for you, revealing some If you didn't like Jeff Fisher before the documentary, I'm sure you like him way less even so.

And if you liked Jeff Fisher before the documentary, you might not like him now.

It's a more interesting story, I think.

Yeah, and more complex.

And the 78-minute documentary released yesterday, it does follow Young's journey from Houston and his roots there and just the megastar that he was in Madison High School to his early struggles here in Austin to learn the Longhorn offense.

And it revealed something we had known and had talked about that Vince nearly transferred from Texas.
