So I would say effective horror score here on the more traditional sort of, you know, hammer horror format.

Cool.
174. Movies For When the Price is Fright
O
28:22OctoberHOST
Here's two movies that are kind of similar.
O
28:25OctoberHOST
We have 1973's Theater of Blood and 1974's Madhouse.
O
28:31OctoberHOST
In Theater of Blood, Vincent Price is...
O
28:36OctoberHOST
A famous horror stage actor and a lot of murders end up happening kind of similar to plays that he's been in and things that he likes.
O
28:45OctoberHOST
And Madhouse is the same thing, except it's a horror movie guy and he has like a skeleton face or something.
O
28:53OctoberHOST
um these movies are very similar in plot but different in quality different in caliber i gave 1973's theater of blood a 41 and 1974's madhouse a 33. i just think theater of blood felt like a much more complete movie and especially having seen theater of blood by the time i watched madhouse i just felt like madhouse was a lesser version of something that was a pretty strong movie Madhouse may have had some more blood, or blood, bells and whistles, but Theater of Blood had more blood and whistles, I guess.

It was a good movie, though.

And finally, closing out the prelude, I just wanted to give a shout-out since I'm just running through stuff I've seen.

yeah for sure um cool so My recommendation this week is I'm going to go with a Vincent Price movie.
J
108:23JeffHOST
As I gushed about Vincent Price earlier, I have tons of Vincent Price recommendations, but I think one of the underrated Vincent Price hits is Madhouse from 1974.
J
108:36JeffHOST
Madhouse is directed by Jim Clark and it stars Vincent Price and Peter Cushing.
J
108:40JeffHOST
So I don't know if I need to sell you any harder on that recommendation.
J
108:44JeffHOST
Peter Cushing is probably my favorite – actually, he is my favorite horror actor next to Vincent Price.

I think the last time I would go watch this, I look forward on streaming and I ended up coming across the the Italian
J

You know what's funny? The year after this, I feel like it's a similar kind of movie.
Z
61:59ZachHOST
I think it's Madman or Madhouse where he's an old horror actor that starts going on a killing spree.
Z
62:12ZachHOST
Yeah, Madhouse.
Z
62:14ZachHOST
It's 1974.
Z
62:15ZachHOST
The year after, he was like, I'm going to do it again, kind of.
Z
62:29ZachHOST
Well, was
C

it for the American audience or the UK audience? Because I think when this probably came out, this is geared towards more of the British audience and probably didn't do so well in America because they're like, what is this?
Z
62:43ZachHOST
I just know because Madhouse came up.
