Ned leaves King's Landing to be away from Robert and the Lannisters, now in control of the capital.

He heads off to Storm's End to end the siege started by Mace Tyrell.

After that, he and six other companions head just across the border into Dorne.

They arrive at a place called the Tower of Joy where they find three Kingsguard.

Meanwhile, Stannis tries to consolidate his forces in preparation for an invasion of the Riverlands.

Though his troops are mostly Stormlenders, he begins recruiting the Reachmen with some success, as Mace Tyrell sees a bright future by working with Stannis.

This gives him a massive army to threaten Robb's domains.

Soon enough, Randall Tarly begins amassing troops to march from the south to strike at the Riverlands.

He takes the remnants of Renly's infantry, augmented by Mace Tyrell's men, numbering nearly 60,000 strong.

A few of the Westermen even join their army in hopes of winning Stannis' favor.
