Yeah.

Because if you have super tight tolerances, you go back to the first M16 in Vietnam jamming all the fucking time.

That was nothing to do with tolerances, but okay.

Well, tolerances do play a role in that.

I mean, like, how tight the slide fits on, you know, you get a piece of, you know, you get it dusty, dirty, what have you, and your slide seizes up.

None of

that had anything to do with the M16.

The only tolerance that hurt the original M16s in Vietnam was the U.S. military's tolerance for changing powder types without updating the design or consulting the designers.

Turning to security developments in the West Bank, Israel Police and Border Police uncovered a tunnel at least 25 metres deep in Kalkalia.

According to jpost.com, the tunnel was still under excavation and officers also found weapons including an M16 rifle and a sniper rifle, ammunition and materials potentially for explosives, such as fertiliser.

Four suspects found at the site were arrested for questioning.

The discovery has raised concerns among local authorities near the seam line who described the incident as a serious security reality.

A good example of a machine or piece of equipment which can tolerate defects going into a military example is the AK-47, Soviet produced rifle, which is just unambiguously the most reliable rifle in the world.

Not super sophisticated, but compare that to the AR-15 or M16 family of rifles, They are not in the same category as reliability when it comes to the AK-47.

Why? Because the AK-47 was deliberately designed to be able to be produced across the world using basic manufacturing processes and techniques.

It's without a doubt the most reliable rifle.

After all that changed American law enforcement, and I imagine since you were working You know, a couple years after that, this is probably a conversation pretty recent in your department too.

The department, within months, the Department of Defense transferred 600 surplus M16 rifles to LAPD.

Patrol sergeants started carrying rifles as standard issue.

Patrol cars started getting Kevlar plating.

So let me just read a little bit from it.

Lower courts justifying restrictions on these arms have described the AR-15 as a civilian analog of the M16.

This is both taxonomically incorrect, and even if it were true, constitutionally insignificant.

An instrument status as an arm cannot reasonably hinge on a lacking military usefulness.

So that's the most concerning thing to me.

And I just really hope and pray that the court reads these.

Oh, and also, we've got to give a shout out to SAF because we bullied them so hard that even in their brief, they specifically were like, no, M16 is an AR-15.

So kudos to them.

... inside of the limited range of a submachine gun, useful.

And then whenever they tested, you know, select-fire M14 versus select-fire M16, everybody was so happy.

Look at the market improvement in select-fire capability.

They iss- they were issuing weapons.

Um, I grabbed, we were using M16s at the time, and I grabbed one, signed one of those out.

Um, they'd allocated me to a section, and I went outside and we're sort of standing around, and the section commander says, "Oh- Nobody's got a gun.

Ross, go and get the bloody gun.

A fucking assault rifle.

I'm not too big on my guns, but I think it was an M14, M16, something like that.

It had a scope and a flashlight affixed to the barrel.
