So that means PCIe was enumerating.

And however, when we had them load an M.2, which is our boot drive, from a board that had already been programmed.

So this drive is normally programmed as part of our manufacturing flow.

But we couldn't get to that point on these boards.

So we just stuck one of these that had already been programmed from another board into this and booted it up.

And it panicked, but it panicked because of a front U.2 drive, not because of the M.2. We were like, okay, so let's pop all the U.2s out.

And then we popped all the U.2s out.

And then it panicked again on the M.2.

The problem that we have with the PC space, as previously mentioned, is in between this, the bar was raised so much for what a shmup port should be that by the time you get something that they're learning on and doing stuff, and that's great, I think it's good that they may expand upon, but there's really no written clause stating that they won't either, right? this is just conjecture what we have is everyone expects all these practice modes all this other stuff to be part of a package that you buy they don't mind paying extra for it but they do expect that to be there on day one or as part of a forthcoming dlc had Cave put out an actual roadmap saying, hey, we're going to put this out, and then we're going to put this mode in DLC, I think it would do a lot to alleviate these problems.

But what you have instead is a player base that has grown used to these M.2 collections.

The Ramageddon, the Ramageddon, the M.2 ports, or they have gotten used to the ports there.

It's sort of similar to The Star Wars trilogy, right? When the Star Wars trilogy, the original one, came out, everyone was amazed.

Everyone loved it.

First, the PS5 Linux project now supports more firmware, meaning you can now get a Linux distro on your PS5 with firmwares 3.0 all the way up to 7.61.

It allows you to use a separate M.2 SSD as your separate Linux partition.

It supports 4K60.

All USB ports work.

Then I was looking at the motherboard.

None of the M.2 slots have any, none of them are accessible to use a heat sink with.

So it's the usual, you're having to take out the graphics card and take out that little thing.

So all that is annoying to some degree, but the SSD works really well.

And remember, she did say that she had dropped the laptop.

So I went ahead and opened up the laptop to inspect the SSD, which turned out to be an M.2 SSD.

I mean, it looks like someone had replaced that M.2 and didn't use the same drive that they removed.

So it probably came with like a 110 millimeter drive and someone put in like a 42 millimeter drive.

So the screw that actually holds the drive wasn't there.

Here's where NVMe SSDs really shine.

PCIe lanes give them raw speed, write speeds above two thousand megabytes a second, read around thirty-five hundred megabytes a second on modern M.2 sticks.

For a single workstation that is heavily sample-based, an NVMe cache drive can keep the DAW snappy when you pull in a massive bank of acoustic hits.

But if your budget stretches to several drives, the cost per gigabyte still nudges upward for NVMe versus SATA SSD.

The expansion card chipset handles all the communication, switching, and routing between the drives and the PCIe lanes.

Now, the Southbridge Max pr- Max provides four M.2 NVMe slots, four SATA 3.0 ports, two 10 gigabit US- USB-A ports, one 10 gigabit USB-C, and one 20 gigabit USB-C port.

Now, and the card communicates through a PCIe 4 interface with four lanes.

Now, that might sound like an issue, especially with Gen f- Gen 5 drives out there.
