Eric came up to see a rough cut and also came into the cutting room.

I had some affinity with him as I had been to school in Limington on the edge of the New Forest and knew it well.

My recollection is that he was driven up by his wife, a very pleasant lady called Eileen.

Eric was rather reserved, but dignified and friendly, just needed a bit of drawing out.

He does play an overseas season at Lymington, um, up, uh, in the Midlands in, in 2009.

Plays in the Southern Prem as a pro to finish after that, and probably the last game of note that he plays, he, he takes part in the 2009 MCC versus MCC game at Lord's for Melbourne the day after the 2009 Ashes test at Lord's.

So the life and times of Simon Cook, a bolter that worked, the crack, the Sunday arvo, the rapid demise, the sad time in the wilderness, but those 40 minutes when it was all perfect.

Where did you grow up? What's your relationship with the outdoors? How did it all begin for you?

So I grew up in a place called Lymington on the south coast of the UK, um, just opposite the Isle of Wight.

And I grew up with a tremendous amount of freedom, which was bliss.

I mean, I think it was partly growing up in the sort of late '70s, '80s, and so on, but it was also the way I was brought up.

Not only did I drive from London to Lymington and then Yarmouth to my parents' bungalow and then all around the island-

They had a tight 4-4 draw with Lymington last weekend that gave them a critical point.

That one point means they can't be caught at this point, mostly because Lyndhurst were beaten again last weekend.

... uh, last weekend.

They've got two fixtures left, Lymington September 19th, Portswood October 3rd.

Both of those are at home for Romsey, uh, but the clubhouse won't be there in time to give them any sort of a lift, I don't think.
