There's a YouTube horror filmmaker who's making the leap.

Neon and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are teaming on a film called Lust, written and directed by digital creator Spencer Lackey.

It says Spencer built his audience through short-form horror, including the Mike Flanagan-produced liminal nightmare You Are Here.

And it links to the short that he made.

And this is his newest.

He's the author of In Service to the Senator, Unthinkable, and The Devil's All-American.

A desire rises up.

Lust rises up.

Temptation rises up.

And? And temptation comes from Satan.

That's really important.

So differences between lust and love, and...

Lust is non-committal, love is committed.

Lust is sudden, love is gradual.

The king of this circle is Minos, the judge of the dead in Greek mythology, who assigns each soul its place in hell according to their actions in life.

The second circle of hell is Lust, where those who allowed themselves to be carried away by carnal desire and uncontrolled passion are punished.

These souls are dragged by a violent and incessant wind, symbolizing the power of their earthly love, which prevented them from rising to a more spiritual and divine love.

In this circle, Dante meets some of the most famous and tragic couples in history and literature, such as Cleopatra and Mark Antony, Helen of Troy and Paris, Tristan and Isolde, and Paolo and Francesca.

I thought the two were one in the same.

And as a result, it took me until I was in my 30s to recognize that lust is not necessarily an expression of love.

Lust has its own category.

You have some fun.

It's a temporary fun, but it may not lead to a long-term relationship.

There is no conquest without possession of the thing conquered, just as there can be no love without voluptuousness.
