Luke Strand

All right, Matt Dean, welcome you back into the Maverick Stampede here on the Fan Main Kato, part of our weekly coaches show, talking everything Minnesota State athletics.

Here for the men's hockey portion of the show with the head coach at MSU, Luke Strand.

Minnesota State coming off a pair of ties on the weekend in their series against Lake State.

First conference weekend of the season for Minnesota State.

But yeah, we're looking forward to getting back on the road.

All right.

Luke Strand here with us on the Maverick Stampede.

Luke, as always, appreciate your time.

So another thing on here, guys just kind of came across my Twitter today.

Um, Luke Strand, obviously our head coach is on the college hockey oversight committee.

Paul Allen retweeted this, but I guess that's the committee that they kind of formed to, you know, basically it's going to oversee some legislation, some other responsibilities, championship selection, selection criteria, adopts and proposes new rules, stuff like that.

So kind of interesting that, yeah.

Two teams that seemed destined for a shootout.

We'll see what adjustments these two head coaches, Damon Witten and Luke Strand, make at night number two.

And

overtime win is just like a win.

Matt Dean, welcome you back into Maverick Hockey on KTOE, Minnesota State preparing for night number two of the weekend series, their first in CCHA play after a 2-2 tie and a shootout win to grab the extra point in the standings last night against Lake State.

We're here as always pregame with the head coach of the Mavericks, Luke Strand.

And coach, to get us started, Your team goes down 2-0 early in the first yesterday.

That's been a little bit of a negative trend this year.

It's a committee

group.

Here with the head coach of the Mavericks, Luke Strand.

Last thing, coach, it's senior night.

It's our men's hockey portion of the show.

We're joined by the fourth-year head coach at MSU, Luke Strand.

The Mavericks coming off a weekend sweep in the home-and-home with their in-state rival, St. Thomas.

3-1 comeback victory for the Mavs.

Their final weekend before they head into conference play.

welcoming in Lake Superior State here for a Friday-Saturday series at the Mayo.

Luke Strand joins us here on the Mavericks Stampede.

And, Coach, you've got to be happy with how your team performed this weekend.

Then I moved on to see St. Thomas and Minnesota State, and there's nobody that needed a win more than the head coach at Minnesota State.

And you're going to like some of this comment, but in Luke Strand, the first thing he told me was, tell Paul it wasn't his fault.

It wasn't his fault that he got in there.

I said, okay, well, I said, I'll tell him that.

And that's what Minnesota State needed.

So let's not waste any more time.

Let's hear from Coach Luke Strand and then the solid goaltending of Lassie Letty in just a minute.

Coach,

Tomorrow we'll be back in Mankato at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.

We're here pregame ahead of the weekend with the head coach of the Mavericks, Luke Strand.

And Luke, I guess we'll look back one last time in that series against Merrimack, your first road trip of the year.

Tough weekend in terms of the results in OT loss Friday.

It hasn't been a steady low moment, but the low moments have been very costly.

So we've got to be good about that as a group.

All right, here with the head coach of the Mavericks, Luke Strand.

Last thing, Coach, if we can talk a little bit about St. Thomas.

One of those games really got away from them.

Luke Strand, which is rare to see.

Yeah, I've always liked Chris Mayotte at CC.

He's had some tough luck with injuries.
