And from the moment we arrived, it was really friendly with the welcome.

As usual, when I'm tail walking, I had the customary pre-event conversation with yesterday's run director, Luke McDougall.

making sure I knew what was expected and checking anything important about the course.

Then it was into the first-timers welcome, followed by the general briefing, and before long, we were ready to head off.

It's about people.

Today, 20 volunteers came together to make Warringal Parklands Event 266 happen.

From run director Luke McDougall through to marshals, timekeepers, barcode scanners, park walkers, tail walkers and everyone working behind the scenes.

I shared tail walking duties with Dougal Bruce and it was great spending the five kilometres chatting and learning a little more about the event and its course.
