Luiz Júnior

The evening started on a difficult note for the Spanish hosts when Napoli struck on their first clear opportunity of the match.

In the eighth minute, a curling set piece delivery found defender Amir Rrahmani inside the penalty area, who directed a sharp header past Luiz Junior to silence the home supporters and put the visitors ahead.

Unshaken by the early setback, Villarreal immediately responded by asserting possessional control and pressing high up the pitch to force mistakes in Napoli's build-up play.

The Yellow Submarine's relentless pressure paid off with two quick-fire goals in the space of three minutes.
