His intervention reinforced an important principle that safeguarding is a responsibility shared by everyone working within the church, regardless of their particular role or position.

Commission Secretary Monsignor Luis Manuel Ali Herrera led a working group on the culture of care, examining how professional and pastoral relationships can become sources of vulnerability when appropriate boundaries are absent.

He distinguished between rigid, diffuse and clear boundaries, explaining how healthy relationships require both empathy and an understanding of individual responsibilities.

As Monsignor Ali stated, clear boundaries protect.

That emphasis on listening was also at the heart of a recent visit to Repara, the Archdiocese of Madrid's Center for Victim Support and Abuse Prevention.

Commission Secretary Bishop Luis Manuel Alí Herrera and Commission member Juan Carlos Cruz visited the center on the nineteenth of September, meeting its coordinator, Lidia Troya.

Repara's experience has shown that abuse can't be understood through a narrow category.

Adults also seek support after spiritual abuse, abuses of conscience and authority, and other violations of trust.
