So they didn't pitch great.

Luis Gil wasn't great in Game 1.

So last year is a little bit more of a balanced reason why they didn't win.

But for the most part, it's because they don't score.

We're still waiting on Weathers to come back.

Still have Clark Schmidt.

And honestly, Fulmer and Schreiber have been kind of enough to make me forget Luis Gil.

And then Luis Gil finished it off in the ninth and had the top pitch speed of the game, 97.9.

So let's take a look at the division snapshot here.

So the Braves beat the Rays 3-1, and the Yankees beat the Rockies 10-3.

The question is, I acknowledge this is one of my boon issues that kind of gets swept under the rug.

Can anybody explain to me why in last night's 6-1 game in the ninth inning that, um, fo- that, um, Fulmer gets the last three outs instead of Luis Gil? Gil was called up on August 30th.

He's pitched once on August 31st, two innings, and then if you're gonna have any possibility of pitching him in the playoffs, you gotta know what you have there.

It was 18 with Ron Guidry before this year.

I was also impressed to see Luis Gil on that list with 17 from two years ago when he came up and really helped save the season, won Rookie of the Year, and was an ace for the first half of the year without Garrett Cole in the elbow in 24.

But 20 starts, 20.

Of one run or less.

They have no choice.

They have to find out if Clark Schmidt or Will Warren or Luis Gil or Elmer Rodriguez or whoever else they decide to weather is coming off injury.

They're going to have to decide whether or not these guys can be an impact player for them out of the bullpen.

And that might mean testing them in spots where if they fail the test... it'll cost you a game.
