The big frame, the guy that can throw strikes, the guy that's got a good changeup, they saw more in Jake Bennett.

So they went with a higher floor of Jake Bennett than the possible higher ceiling than Luis Perales.

And that move has paid off big time, right? You sign a role as Chapman two off seasons ago.

He's been great for the Red Sox, right? You may even make like lower key signings at the time, like Tyrone Guerrero.

Was good to see him back.

Uh, but Tim, uh, things did not go so well for Hers and also did not go so well for a, uh, key young reliever in Luis Perales.

We did see Josiah Gray do some good things.

That was nice, but, uh, a rough go of it for both Hers, uh, and Perales.

This was a nice trade, and, uh, hopefully we see some good stuff from DJ Hers moving forward.

Now, speaking of trades, it was this past December 15th that our Washington Nationals made a trade with the Boston Red Sox.

Uh, the Nats this past December 15th announced having traded a starting pitching prospect named Jake Bennett to Boston for a starting pitching prospect named Luis Perales.

Luis Perales is the Nats' number 12 overall prospect per MLB pipeline.

And you do have a Washington Nationals team that, well, they are not great with their bullpen, to say the least.

You've been relying upon a lot of mix-and-match guys like Luis Perales, who's got over a 5 ERA.

I actually have liked what I've seen out of Jackson Clare, but Will Deon, he's been a little bit up and down as a long guy.

He and Brad Lord are seeing their ERAs starting to hover right around about a four, but for the Nationals, even though they traded away a lot of pieces at the deadline, you still have the two main mashers and C.J. Abrams, James Wood, who have been able to combine for 61 home runs thus far this season, down Lyles up to 22 bombs.

That helps you out a little bit, but man, when you've got these guys like Riley, Cornelio, Wildeon is actually below a 4 ERA, but still, that's risen up to a 390.

You've now got Luis Perales and guys like this posting up ERAs well above a 4.

That's an issue.

Not a lot of faith here in Eric Tomlin, though Jack Sinclair in a small sample size has been okay.

Richard Lovelady allowed one run in two-thirds of an inning.

Luis Perales tossed two scoreless and hitless innings despite issuing five walks.

That to me is the line of the night, what Perales did.

Two scoreless and hitless innings, five walks.

He's very young, unfinished product, missed a lot of time with injuries.

So There's plenty of time left for him to still prove himself, but these early glimpses of him, while you do see signs of what he could be, like Yovani Cruz and several others that they have brought up here, he's got to be able to show that he can hit the strike zone with some regularity to believe this is going to work in the long run.

This is going to be an interesting game from like a time capsule standpoint of a year from now, two years from now, three years from now, you pull up this box score and you read about a Jared Simpson, a Riley Cornelio, a Will Dion, a Luis Perales, and a Giovanni Cruz.

And do you look at it and say, wow, remember when they were like that? And now look at what these guys are doing, thriving for a Washington Nationals team that's headed for the postseason.
