Lucy Thurber

So at the O'Neill, like I met my people.

And the other thing was, um, that I met Lucy Thurber and lose.

It was, uh, I was a script reader for Manhattan theater club and she was one of their fellows.

And Tina Howe was teaching a class to the fellows and generously was like, yeah, you know, come, come take it.

um,

um but that would not have happened so if the o'neill had never happened my life would have been very different but i met all these people who became my people and i was like oh i don't fit in here in this grad school but i fit in here and so i'll i'll go here um so that you know that kind of mentoring is the thing that, that every playwright needs.

I had a, a somewhat similar experience with Lucy Thurber.

When I came out of grad school, as I mentioned before I hit record, I went to the Lark retreat at Vassar and I had wicked imposter syndrome because it was Lucy, Rajiv, Joseph, Matthew, Paul, almost Crystal Skillman.

Yeah, it's just, it's just sort of you pick up people along the way.

Lucy Thurber is a, a playwright.

She was, like, one of the first people that, um, sort of gave me any opportunity, you know, like, to do a reading of a play.

Right.
