Lucy Jones

So yeah, I like I said, I found the word somewhere in the world of LinkedIn.

And then I immediately ordered the book Matressens by Lucy Jones and love it.

Yeah, it's so good.

And after I read that, I mean, it took me, interestingly, a very long time to read that book because I felt like every page I had so much I could relate to and process that I just had to like sit with little chapters at a time.

I'm doing more than the next bloke.

But I never, I mean, when I read Lucy Jones's Matrescence, you know, I never got curious about the fact that my wife was two people, that she was already a mum.

And I wasn't a parent yet.

It was just this kind of, are you all right? Well, I'm really tired.

It's funny 'cause I'm just looking at a book on my desk.

I've got Lucy Jones' matrescence book on my desk right in front of me, and, like, when I first heard that word, and I think I was about three years in, I can still remember running down the stairs to my husband to tell him that I'd found...

Like, there's like a massive light bulb.

I was like, "Oh my God, it's not just me, like, this is normal." Like, th- there is a whole huge, like, transition and shift psychologically, like, physically, societally, politically.

And I think more people need to know about this term.

And then it was popularized two years ago by Lucy Jones.

She's a writer.

And she writes about maturescence the same way we go through adolescence.

There is more being written about it and discussed about it, and a lot more research into it these days, which is great.

And there's a really good book by Lucy Jones called Matrescence that was just published a few years ago, and I love that as a resource for people when they wanna know more.

Yeah, I feel like that book opened a lot of people's eyes to the concept, and it started being talked about more frequently.

And, you know, as you're kind of talking about like the emotional, spiritual, and all the physical changes you went through postpartum, like how does that relate to integrative medicine, which I know is one of your passions, and we haven't really talked about that either.
