Luchino Visconti

So yeah, even though it's supposed to be medieval France, it was filmed in Italy.

And the three castles used for the movie were actually all owned by the Italian movie director Luchino Visconti and his family.

So, uh, yeah, they're all owned by a rich [laughs] Italian movie maker-

This Obscione, a famous Visconti film from the 50s, a huge neorealist.

So I do love Chi Nei Ma.

If it's a remake of that, Visconti, I've seen it.

It's not.

I'd been an English major in college and I got a job working in the movies.

And the first, amongst the first films I worked on were Fellini's Eight and a Half and Lucchino Visconti's The Leopard and Blake Edwards, the first original, The Pink Panther.

I was Claudia Cardinale's secretary.

So what happened was when I got to Rome, The only thing I could do was teach English because I didn't speak Italian at that point.
