Lower Manhattan Development Corporation

Now, the site of the New York City attacks is home to One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

Plans for the World Trade Center rebuilding started in July 2002, which was headed by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.

There was division among members of the public, architects, and political leaders as to what an appropriate new World Trade Center would look like.

Understandably so, as with so much at stake for so many, it had to be right.
