Low-carbon fuel standard

So they're making three times the amount of money they're giving away, apparently, by suspending the GST.

diesel fuel tax i won't even get into the clean fuel standard they're still charging 10 11 cents a liter for that or the weak canadian dollar because no one wants to invest in canada that's 130 pennies 139 pennies to buy us dollar that's about 38 cents a liter so anyway you slice it it sounds great and i'm sure that some people will want to look at this and say it's a great wonderful thing and uh Here, my elbows are up and it's really working.

The government's working in my favor.

But in fact, when you think about it, the other taxes that it imposes, Ottawa does, and to a lesser extent, the province, still amounts to a much higher take by governments, not less.

We didn't.

We actually put the second carbon tax in place.

It's called the Clean Fuel Standard, Clean Fuel Regulation.

That's already 10 or 11 cents a litre.

But then there are just expenses here that you would not have in other places.

Like you mentioned, you have cap and trade, uh, you have LCFS.

[clears throat]

Like, do you mind talking about there's the line item by line item stuff-

And that's part of the regulations I was talking about.

LCFS, um, low carbon fuel standard, um, follows the carbon intensity of the, the molecules and the, and the products you make and, and charges, basically it's almost like a tax, right? Um, if, if you're above a certain carbon intensity, you have to buy credits from s- from the open market where someone has put credits out there, and maybe they're below the carbon intensity.
