Lovelines

After Karen's death, Richard began returning to the tapes.

In 1989, he assembled a Carpenter's album called Love Lines.

Four tracks from Karen's rejected solo project appeared on it.

If I Had You, Remember When Lovin' Took All Night, If We Try, and Love Lines.

Richard did not simply release every track exactly as Karen had left it.

For If I Had You, he remixed the recording, replaced the original bass part with a new performance by longtime Carpenters bassist Joe Osborne, and altered the ending.
