Indeed, so this is

my local beck, this is Lothersdale Beck, flowing through the beautiful village of Lothersdale where I live.

And most people in the village would say that it is very beautiful, as is, but whenever I see a bit of water I have to think about the history of the place and what might have been done to it in the past.

and there are lots of straightened sections on Lothersdale Beck.

The part that we're walking along at the moment is probably out of position within the valley by about 50, 60 yards, metres, and it's very heavily incised because it's been straightened.

It's dug itself down.
