I know the DSA just endorsed Nithya Raman for mayor, but the DSA members of the LA City Council are behind Karen Bass for re-election, as was Nithya Raman before she decided to become a candidate herself.

I think what you're ultimately gonna end up seeing is a bunch of Spencer Pratt voters leaving it blank.

That's what I would do if I was a voter in the City of Los Angeles.

Well, I mean, there are policies that go hand in hand with people who embrace rent control, heavy-duty rent control.

The DSA, for example, which is a growing block on the L.A. City Council, they also want to decriminalize crimes that they say are associated with poverty.

So if you are, let's say, homeless and you're living in a broken-down R.V., and you just dump your waste on the street that goes directly into the ocean, well, we can't cite that person for committing a crime, for being an environmental hazard or developing an environmental hazard because that person has no other alternative.

So let's just go ahead and look the other way and pretend like it's not going on.

Uh, I was actually working for, uh, a member of the city council, Ruth Galanter, who represented the West Side.

And, um, I- I had been driving a, a buddy of mine to get shoulder surgery that morning, and when he came out of it a few hours later, I'm like, "Dude, you're waking up to an entirely different world." Right? In the time he was in there, like, the towers fell, right? And, um, a, a lot of people forget this now, but, uh, our current senator, Alex Padilla, was a fairly new member of the LA City Council.

He'd been on the council for, like, a year or two, and he had just been, at age 28, in July of that year, just two months before, he became council president.

He actually unseated my boss, Eric Galanter.

He was governor of California on September 11, 2001.
