now it's like, hmm, be three minutes, could you wait? Although, I was at Parnassus in Nashville, Ann Padgett's bookstore, and Laurie Moore was there, the writer, and Ann and I were just in our little, you know, Q&A thing with each other for the event.

We're just babbling along about whatever i don't know our new dresses i i don't know we weren't really talking about the book that much and afterwards laurie said to me why didn't you read it's like oh i don't know we don't really do that anymore and she said you have to do it you have to keep this tradition alive you have to school people to be able to listen to somebody reading and I agree with her, but also not everybody is a good reader of their work.

So, you know, 35 minutes was a bit intense.

You know, five or 10 is it's right.

I mean, I mean, I could listen to Laurie Moore read an entire short story and I would be so happy, but not everybody is a good reader.

Well, I'd much rather go to an event and hear you talk about you and writing and the book than reading from the book.

I can do that myself.

And then I learned to write, I think, while reading a lot of short story writers.

So people like George Saunders, Mary Gates Gill, ZZ Packer, Laurie Moore, and those writers, you know, played a major role for me in figuring out how to write on the sentence level.

Yeah, absolutely.

Were you were you at Madison when Laurie was still here? I was.

I think makes the acquisitions at Hub City really exciting, because we're all cheering for writers, too, because we are also writers.

But Laurie Moore's Who Will Run the Frog Hospital Like, little books that have no plot at all.

That was a good one for me.
