Loretto

Because I talked about This really interesting dude who was like the first ordained father to get like his whole religious education here in the United States.

His name was Father Galitsin, a.k.a. the Apostle of the Alleghenies and the founder of Loretto, PA, which is the hometown of the newly famed Doss House.

So there's lots of hearsay and like story variation for this specific story in and of itself.

But Father Goludzin was a part of like one of the first, I would say, one of the first exorcisms in all of the United States.

So, some accounts of this story, which make it even more, I don't know, I guess, curious, if you will, says that the handkerchief was actually left intact, but once the lady opened it, it revealed that only her hat had been cut into crescent-shaped ribbons, which is quite scary.

I mean, though, if you're, like, a sheer, wielding poltergeist, right? I mean, at least you're only cutting crescent, moon-shaped things into stuff, like...

i mean everyone could have ended up like the chickens and the geese that's all i'm saying so there has to have been of like some sort of he was holding him holding himself back like the poltergeist was holding himself back so it could it could be a lot worse is what i'm saying according to one source mr livingston's mental torture from the continued events was so acute that he turned to the bible for help Now, this is a little bit where I want to talk about how Father Galatzin, the Apostle of the Alleghenies and the founder of Loretto, PA, where the Doss house is located, is incorporated into this.

So it wasn't until a long time after these hauntings started happening that Father Galatzin actually was brought in as a Catholic father with another Catholic father called Father Cahill to come in and perform an exorcism.

In March 1795, Demetrius Gallitzin was ordained priest and at once set to work, for in April we already find him at Port Tobacco with another missionary.

The self-forgetful zeal and splendid spiritual gallantry which were to characterize his long and arduous apostolical career at once showed themselves.

were to tame his ardent spirit and bring it captive to the cross of Christ.

Indeed, so relentless was the storm, so fierce the persecution, often from those who owed him everything and who ended by loving him enthusiastically, that we can only account for it by saying that the devil, seeing the good that was being done, raged against its author with full fury in the expectation of driving him to despair.

I grew up in Burden County in New Jersey and went to college in Western Pennsylvania in St. Francis in Loretto out in the mountains of the Alleghenies in Western Pennsylvania.

And I studied business and management and didn't want to do either and worked at the college radio station there, found a job at the commercial station there, got an internship here in New York in a suburban radio station there, Rockland County, New York, and did that for a couple of years while I was in college and caught the bug.

And for some unknown reason, I was lucky enough to come back home after college, work in the New York suburbs, and find my way into the New York market after a few years of freelancing, and then just found the right people to mentor me and found the opportunities that let me cover some of the most important stories you know, of our time and, you know, the rest is history.
