The Lord of the Rings

He's worked as a sound designer internationally on Les Mis, Miss Saigon, and Phantom of the Opera, among many other productions.

His career highlights include the critically acclaimed productions of Billy Elliot at the Curve, Lord of the Rings at the Watermill, and Jamie Lloyd's reimagined Sunset Boulevard, West End and Broadway.

He won an Olivier Award for Best Sound Design for Sunset Boulevard in twenty twenty-four, an Olivier Award nomination for Into the Woods in twenty twenty-six, and a Tony Award nomination for The Lost Boys in twenty twenty-six.

Yeah.

And it was at the Savoy.

Um, at that time I was doing Lord of the Rings at the Watermill, which was another great project.

Mm-hmm.

And actually, this was an issue with the London production of...

Lord of the Rings as well, years ago.

They had these lifts that would come up and pass each other.

And there's safety tape, pressure tape on automation pieces like that so that if somebody gets underneath it, it'll stop before it seriously hits them.

And so they took the sensitivity down.

And this has happened, this happened in Spider-Man and it happened in Lord of the Rings.

Somebody got their leg in between and it didn't trigger.
