Loop Head Lighthouse

There was-

Five at Loop Head.

Yeah, there were five at Loop Head.

That was, uh, was also pretty mega.

Uh, it felt quite old school really, um, because Loop Head was another place that had a nice flock, I think it was double figure flock back in, in that famous autumn of 2011.

So- Yeah, always, always got time for a buff-breasted sandpiper.

I was gonna say, there's probably more to come as the westerlies don't seem to stop.

It very much sells West Clare to everyone that comes.

They send people to Loophead Lighthouse, to the Bridge of Ross, to the Kilkee Cliffs, the beautiful Scattery Island and Vandalore Wall Gardens.

So it's very much part of the tourism offering of West Clare and very much is inclusive in that.

I'm interested in how you think the Irish Open might be a benefit for the area, because I know in La Hinch it was certainly felt that it was good at the time, but then an awful lot of business accrued to the area after that.

I immediately altered course to pass close to the Three Sisters, and from there get my bearings for negotiating the entrance.

There is a signal station at Loop Head, on a small island on the north side of the estuary, and I wanted to give it as wide a berth as possible.

During the war, this innocent little island might well have developed into a grim monster bristling with guns.

Certainly, the signal station would be under military control.

Surely it must be the pilot cutter already on the lookout for us.

I could have shouted for joy.

A few minutes later, however, I made the unwelcome discovery that the supposed sail was assuming improbable dimensions, and it finally revealed itself as the actual island of Loop Head, which I had supposed to be further north.

The sun had played a trick on us, illuminating the western trapeze-shaped end of the island so brightly that it looked in the distance like a large white sail.

So, um, Tight game, certainly, you would imagine.

Plenty of scoring ability on both sides, but just think that, as I said, the boys from Loophead hold the advantage.

Yeah, but isn't it amazing to think of the contrast between the two clubs that are actually involved here tonight? As you mentioned, Ines Diamond having to juggle multiple teams, Navon putting out one and doing brilliantly with it.

Both having their struggles in terms of the challenges that's presented to them and both going about it equally brilliantly.
