Longview High School

Looking back on it, I could have gone to a lot more Friday Night Football games, you know, and watched Lee play Marshall.

I could have watched Lee play Longview High School, you know.

When I look back on it, you know, it would have been pretty cool to go and watch Longview play a little bit more.

Who would have known? um, what would have ended up being accomplished by a couple of those guys that played for Longview high school back then.

Right.

Um, you know, but you, you, you look back and I realized I could have gone to high school football games, probably could have had a little bit of popcorn the night before cross country race.

For those that don't know, Haynes King is the son of a very, very important coach in the history of East Texas football.

All that at Longview High.

He was a five-star, went to A&M, didn't work out, ends up at Tech.

But he just throws the ball to the wrong team too much.

[crowd noise] Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Longview High School's twenty twenty-six Homecoming festivities.

At this time, we want to recognize our alumni who are present.

Will all LHS graduates please stand? [crowd noise] Thank you.

We take great pride in introducing the twenty twenty-six Lobo football sweetheart, Sadie Albatroni.

[crowd cheering] Earlier this month, Longview High School selected Ryan Castana as their representative for the Miss Grape County contest.

[crowd cheering] She was the winner of Miss Congeniality last night.

She is escorted by her parents, Myra and Carlos Castana.

[crowd cheering] Ryan is a member of the LHS band.

This time they'll be at Longview.

Oh, man, one of the best venues in the state of Texas to watch Friday night football, Longview High.

It may be my all-time favorite.

I tell Coach King that every time I go through there, especially when Lufkin's at Longview.

I went through public schools here.

I graduated from Longview High School, went off to do my schooling at Stephen F. Austin.

Kilgore first for a year, Stephen F. Austin, and then I went to Baylor Dental School in Dallas.

I did my surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, where I became a maxillofacial surgeon.

Do I have that right?

Yeah, he was my offensive coordinator and coach, but he's now the head coach athletic director at Longview High.

Okay, and Haynes King is now on the 53-man roster for the Carolina Panthers just down the street from where I'm sitting, which is kind of crazy, right? Because people said he was obviously a highly talented guy at A&M, but at Georgia Tech, he didn't throw the football very much.

He ran the football most of the time, but pretty cool to see him make an NFL roster as we head into 2026.

It seems like he's been that way for a while now.

He does a great job.

When Longview High School was in the state playoffs and going to state championship game, he's always around there too, kind of driving a little bit of exposure.

which is great.
