But he'll create a plugin for Logic Pro or DaVinci to help him in a certain way that the software can't, if he needs it.

So figure out how that's working.
S
35:02Steven SirskiHOST
Anyway, so I was upstairs working on that and of all buggery things to happen, Logic Pro is giving me latency issues.
S
35:09Steven SirskiHOST
And we're talking like it's a frame off.
S
35:13Steven SirskiHOST
And what I was trying to do today, so I have mentioned before, again, this symbols is meant as inventory and as to like a sound dictionary of the symbols I have for the time now.
The Non-Negotiables of Writing Production Music
D
10:23Dave KropfHOST
That having been said, There are some pretty decent bass VSTs.
D
10:28Dave KropfHOST
The Stock Logic bass, especially with the newest update, they've really upped their game.
D
10:33Dave KropfHOST
They have different modeled basses.
D
10:35Dave KropfHOST
They have like a P bass and a jazz bass, and they have a Music Man and a Hoffner and a Rickenbacker, and they have an upright bass.
J
11:39Jeff LaplanteHOST
If you're talking VSTs and wondering, is it going to give me broadcast quality material for dramedy stuff? From what you're saying, it sounds like yes, because the programmers of these libraries do an outstanding job with that sort of tight, short instrument.
D
11:57Dave KropfHOST
Exactly.
D
11:58Dave KropfHOST
And even like stock Logic pizzicato strings work fantastic, especially if you layer them and it kind of hides some of the weaknesses of one library typically aren't the same weaknesses in another library.
D
12:13Dave KropfHOST
So when you layer them, they kind of cancel each other out.
GPT-6 Astra Does Everything. Here's What It's Actually Good At.
G
16:14Gavin PurcellHOST
Uh, it, it just launched, so it's new and everywhere, but, like, that kind of is the idea.
G
16:17Gavin PurcellHOST
Uh, the other thing, Kevin, [laughs] I wanna talk about before we move on from this is I saw this video of somebody using Logic with, uh-
K
16:25Kevin PereiraHOST
Mm-hmm
G
16:25Gavin PurcellHOST
... with, uh, Astra, and if you know what Logic i- [laughs] not logic in that, like, you know, uh, two plus two equals four math logic or some sort of logic.
G
16:33Gavin PurcellHOST
This is Logic the music software.
G
16:36Gavin PurcellHOST
And this is where the kind of thing that I think people need to dig in a little bit further on Astra to understand how it can get so powerful.
G
16:43Gavin PurcellHOST
Logic is, a- and Fruity Loops are, are two very complicated audio softwares.
G
16:48Gavin PurcellHOST
I know you've spent time with them.

Yeah.
N
10:11NateHOST
What's interesting to me is that for years I wanted to learn how to use Logic Pro, but I really didn't want to introduce a new system because I had something that worked already.
N
10:19NateHOST
And then as a result of working on this, uh, this album that we put out, uh, which you can get on streaming and on Bandcamp, it's called Find a Way to Hate It, the band is called Second Homes, you should listen to it.
N
10:27NateHOST
Um, I actually know Logic really well now, and it is kind of weird.
Tips for Live Recordings & Mixing in Pro Tools with Garrett Miller
G

And Behringer just came out with a newer version of it, but it uses StageConnect.
G
28:19Garrett MillerGUEST
And it's a USB interface that I hook up to usually Marcus, but whoever's running tracks, they can plug it into their computer, open up Ableton or Logic, whatever, select it as the playback engine, and then they can send me 16 tracks of stems if they're doing, you know, stereo, loop, stereo, if there's keys or guitars or... stereo vocal tracks if there's something like depending on who we're featuring that choir room or what's going on we might be taking eight lines from him or something but i can do it all over one stage connect um xlr cable or i i use a dmx cable just to have enough length um But anyway, I get all that over one cable, and I can record those 16 inputs.
G
29:16Garrett MillerGUEST
And I can also combine those down and just send two tracks to them for their headphones or whatnot.
G
29:21Garrett MillerGUEST
But...
11 MINS LATER
G
40:17Garrett MillerGUEST
Marcus did a cool thing with his keyboard rig this night.
G
40:24Garrett MillerGUEST
It was a Yamaha CP88, but he also was using that keyboard as a MIDI controller for his, I don't know if it was main stage.
G
40:36Garrett MillerGUEST
He had a laptop that was, one, running the tracks through Logic, I think, and then also he was running main stage through maybe the headphone out.
G
40:49Garrett MillerGUEST
And main stage had, you know, Omnisphere and all kinds of different soft synths and virtual instruments loaded up there.

Someone commented underneath their video saying... using AI and using Logic Pro are basically like the same thing like it's basically cheating because you're just kind of piecing it together and he went okay well let's test this then and he opened up an empty project in Logic and said make me a soulful 1960s inspired sample and just stared at it and obviously nothing happened because you have to make it yourself And then he pulled up Suno and then obviously said the same thing.
L
21:21LLBHOST
And then he spelled it out and he's like, well, that's clearly the difference in AI.
L

Pan Law Settings: Choose the Right One for Your Mix
J
20:15Jody WhitesidesHOST
Now other DAWs actually are more likely to set it based on the DAW itself and not on the preference of the individual song file.
J
20:24Jody WhitesidesHOST
However, it does make sense that it's the individual song file because when you go from one Logic Studio to another Logic Studio, you're going to have the same pan law because it's baked into your session file.
J
20:35Jody WhitesidesHOST
With Luna, it's a little different.
J

Luna gives you no choice.

I think it was the default at one point.

I mean in Logic we have other things when it comes to panning that are – I want to say weird.

The way it's implemented, it's been corrected now or at least given options now.
