President George W. Bush flew to the Abraham Lincoln not by helicopter, but in a Lockheed S-3B Viking, the Navy's carrier-based anti-submarine and light attack jet.

He flew in the co-pilot seat.

The aircraft made an arrested landing aboard the ship.

Whatever the politics of that moment, the aviation story is remarkable.
