Screen Australia has just released the Screen Currency 2026 report and word on the ground says it's the most significant piece of research that the agency has undertaken for the screen and video game sector.

It's a research study that comprises of five reports paired with 16 supporting case studies and it measures the local and global value of our industry from an economic, social and cultural perspective.

There were many takeaways from this report, Luani, but the main ones that really stood out to me were that Australians really do value Australian local content, but they just can't discover it.

We know as filmmakers that discoverability has been a long chronic illness in our industry because we just don't have the budgets that the Hollywood marketing machines have.
