Liza Tarbuck

but

just couldn't get on board with what was going on I mean, I was going to say someone like, I don't know, like Jamali Maddox didn't like there were times where he wouldn't try and like Lisa Tarbuck wouldn't try sometimes.

But then also there were times where- I

do remember one task where Lisa just wasn't in the mood and more or less walked off from it.

Beginning in January, we went to the old Tiger offices in Soho.

And Lisa Tarbuck held the door open for me as I walked in because I paid no attention to anything because I was so, I made up my ass.

Yeah.

And I walked in and it was Paula Wilcox, Sally Lindsay, Lisa Talbot, Dan Ryan.

You'll meet people.

And there was a party to launch a show called Linda Green, starring Lisa Tarbuck, in Manchester, where Nicola, my producer, went up to Jane Tranter, who's the head of drama, and said to Jane, Russell would love to bring back Doctor Who.

And Jane Tranter tells this story.

She says she looked across this room, which is a very drunk party, I seem to remember.

Go to the parties, you'll meet people.

So you see these award ceremonies, and you see them all in their black bow ties swilling about.

But actually, we're all meeting and talking to each other, and to meeting actors and saying, "What about this? What about that? Let's do this." So a lot of the meeting, the creation of Doctor Who in two thousand and five was the launch party for Linda Green starring Lisa Tarbuck.

[laughs]

That's where it all happened.

Yes, the fake sitcom

...

in a factory with Lisa Tarbuck?

Yeah.

It's so funny.

You ever met Lisa Tarbuck?

I have met her once.

I met her up in that Welsh, uh, place, up in London where they were doing Upstart Crow r- read-throughs.

Izzy, when she was a very, very, very young act, died on her ass at a gig downstairs at the King's Head.

Yeah.

And Lisa Tarbuck brought her over a pint and said, "I think you probably need that."

Oh, lovely.

Colman.

Lisa Tarbuck.

All right, yeah.

This is fascinating to know

And my wife was like, what? What are you, what? So yeah, but that's fantastic.

And then a very young Lisa Tarbuck.

Yes.

Like in the final episode, she's on the coach helping him out.

That sort of thing.

I was really invested in that.

By the time we get to Lisa Tarbuck helping him out, I was like, how are they going to end this? I was really invested.

And when they did...
