I bear in mind, you're going to pick the last one.
Baz GreenlandHOST
14:27
So I'm like, do I pick Liz? Sure.
Baz GreenlandHOST
14:29
Do I pick Ace? No, I'm going to have to go because just in case you don't pick it, it has to be Sarah.
Baz GreenlandHOST
14:36
Sarah is magnificent.
Ben GreenlandHOST
18:08
You don't like us
Baz GreenlandHOST
18:09
much, actually, do you? I do.
Baz GreenlandHOST
18:10
I prefer Liz Shaw, though.
Baz GreenlandHOST
18:11
Maybe I'm a Liz's third Doctor fan.
Al DewarGUEST
42:59
I love it.
Al DewarGUEST
43:01
The minute I saw the Liz Shaw Cad, I was... absolutely beside myself.
Al DewarGUEST
43:07
I was like, holy crap, knocked out of the park.
Al DewarGUEST
43:11
But far and away the best figure we've ever done.
Al DewarGUEST
43:14
And because I absolutely love Liz Shaw as a character anyway, I really wish I'd managed to meet Caroline John, but because I love Liz Shaw, yeah, that one was, personally, was an absolute joy.
Al DewarGUEST
43:23
The Yeti was an interesting one because...
Al DewarGUEST
43:29
i think i think my big worry there was compared compare and contrast was that the original yeti sculpt was the one that from webber fear was one everyone assumed would be coming out and then we did a massive bait and switch and did the the 1967 abominable snowman one uh which i still argue is the right one to do we already had the second doctor for a coat tardis part of that set it was um but it was it was a whole lot of things on the yeti that were just not right the articulation would have been important there wouldn't have been any articulation we would have been able to articulate the arms and maybe the maybe the waist and then uh the head wouldn't have probably had any articulation because it was and it was too small it was it was tiny I remember the day I literally got the sculpt out and put it next to the Doctor, and I was like, that can't be right, because the Yeti's almost the same size as the Doctor.

Marketing people are basically saying, this is our plan, this is where we release.
Al DewarGUEST
22:39
And now the fact that he can then literally bring it, get sent, and Joanne, our engineer, who's brilliant, has kind of just embraced that and kind of like, she's almost like, well, has Andrew seen it and I'm like well he's looking at it now kind of thing and so it's been good and even when the Tom Baker where I was never happy with the deco on the original paint master and I kind of said well that looks a bit weird and I was looking at the first shots and I even sent those back in and sort of said to Andrew what's going on with the face here because it's a bit odd so we were looking at the CAD and looking at the figure and we sort of realized that the with the sort of hairline was a bit lower and the eyebrows which as Andrew pointed out are virtually non-existent in a way suddenly are kind of like very bold and right up under the hairline so it was it was throwing a whole load of stuff out so yeah it's a it's brilliant it's brilliant to be able to kind of have that really little bit more fluid work thing going on I think
Andrew TealGUEST
23:43
think we started it was that Liz Shaw as well I noticed today looking back through some old pictures when we did Liz because we're using a pre-existing body the inner core she it's quite thin but on top of that we're sculpting a flexible outer dress but it's still got to be of a certain thickness and she started looking a little bit fat.
Andrew TealGUEST
24:13
And when the factory sent it back, she looked a little bit fat because they have to put around the back.
Andrew TealGUEST
24:22
If you imagine a split line
Andrew TealGUEST
25:53
about.
Andrew TealGUEST
25:53
It needs to be that way just to get it out of the tool sometimes.
Al DewarGUEST
25:59
Yeah, but it's astounding how good that Liz Shaw figure is, and how well it works.
Al DewarGUEST
26:09
She's got a bow-jointed neck, and I know the argument is, well, her hair's over her shoulders and she can't really move, but you can move it a little bit, and it is nice, but it's just a, you know, kind of one.
SiHOST
25:32
And we find out that now it's 2013.
SiHOST
25:36
And this is John Pertwee arriving with Liz Shaw in tow.
SiHOST
25:42
which is great to see.
SiHOST
25:45
I got a real kick out of Liz Shaw coming back in The Five Doctors as well, because she only had that one season, didn't she, originally? So when she went, it was a real shame.
SiHOST
25:53
They're talking to Pauline and Kathy, who are talking about, oh, I wish Arthur was still alive.
SiHOST
26:01
I don't know the timeline, but I think Arthur was still alive in 1993 in the show.

11 MINS LATER

SiHOST
37:33
Yeah.
DanHOST
37:33
Transforms into John Pertwee.
JimmyHOST
13:30
I think it's almost a bit of a shame that they didn't follow through with that.
JimmyHOST
13:34
I love the Brigadier and I'm glad we got him in the new series here in the Sarah Jane Adventures, but I think this would have been a brilliant end to sacrificing himself to save the world from the destroyer so yeah it's almost a shame it didn't work out but I'm glad it did and that they got that lovely little scene at the end with family and all the girls going off in Anselm and Lorne and so on but yeah it could have been very different I loved the throwbacks like the Liz Shaw security pass and just casually mentioning things like that I did find it odd that they said Zbrignia used to work with the Brigadier and yet they didn't do anything with it.
JimmyHOST
14:13
Like they didn't have the meat at all.
JimmyHOST
14:14
It's I'm surprised Big Finish hasn't done something
MarkHOST
68:30
Anyway, so then we have a two-parter called The Crystal Ship.
MarkHOST
68:33
This features a character called Liz Shaw, who
JoeHOST
68:37
is working.
JoeHOST
68:38
She ain't been introduced yet.
JoeHOST
68:40
So I
MarkHOST
68:41
thought, well, she's just a guest character here.
MarkHOST
68:44
So Liz Shaw is working on this British rocket group thing with this scientist.
MarkHOST
68:49
Of course.
Toby HadokeHOST
22:36
Even the very best of men, and these two are, can be products of their time and or have personal flaws.
Toby HadokeHOST
22:42
I think it helps that Isabel and Zoe have each other, whereas a Liz Shaw is all by herself in Doctor Who and the Silurians, which, whilst probably realistic for Malcolm Hulk, just feels a bit sad and frustrating.
Toby HadokeHOST
22:55
I also greatly enjoyed Vaughn swivelling casually in his chair and Brig having to corral a Scooby-Doo gang.
Toby HadokeHOST
23:01
Excellent stuff.
Ioan MorrisGUEST
7:58
And that's happened throughout Doctor Who, really, like as much as I like Joe Grant.
Ioan MorrisGUEST
8:06
When Liz Shaw comes in, it's a really strong version of the show, when the Doctor has someone who matches him, and then they back away from it.
Ioan MorrisGUEST
8:15
And the same happened when Catherine Tate came in in the new series.
Ioan MorrisGUEST
8:18
You actually have a strong enough character to go against the Doctor, so they're actually a partnership, not two levels of a relationship.
TroyHOST
23:36
But the fourth Doctor set, season 14, is up on Character Options' website now.
TroyHOST
23:40
If you bought set three, which is the Liz Short and Primord, which, by the way, sold out, the classic set sold out as well, they've got to be so happy with how well these sets are performing, and rightfully so.
TroyHOST
23:52
It's fantastic to see.
TroyHOST
23:53
Although...
