Live 8

On the 23rd of June, Reddit is founded.

On the 2nd of July, the Live 8 concerts take place across the world.

I remember watching that.

Am I remembering correctly, there is a version of Like a Prayer and Madonna is in a white suit? I

And I recently did a social media post about this because this particular gig led to all of those future gigs.

And it was a cold call that I got back in 2005 to play for Live 8 in Philadelphia over Fourth of July weekend with an artist I'd never heard of before, didn't know the music of.

And really was kind of on the fence about whether I really wanted to figure out how to get to Philly with my harp, which is a pain.

And and and give up my Fourth of July weekend.

And then Jay-Z's family called and said, we have this amazing gig happening at Radio City Music Hall.

We want you to be part of that with an orchestra.

And I can't tell you how many things came out of saying yes to that Live 8 gig.

And I can see the strings of the pathways that have led to each experience that I've had since then.

So, um, she had fully crossed over, right? When you're playing SNL and you're signing Pepsi deals.

Um, played at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and played at the Live 8 concert in 2005, um, in London.

Uh, at around that time, though, she decided to, uh, have her first son, uh, right around the time she released her second album, "Judgment Days." That album was considerably more political, um, including a, a song about her father, uh, called "Judgment Day Father," and a, boy, this is 2005, a Tony Blair critique called "Mr.

Prime Minister." Um, and, uh, "Judgment Day," uh, that song about her father, was r- uh, reached number 25 on the, uh, singles chart.

Their albums, No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls, and Still Not Gettin' Any, both earned major certifications.

We could talk about them winning multiple Juno and Much Music Video Awards, playing major stages from Live 8 to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and And when Simple Plans drummer Chuck Como was a guest, he talked about his first concert and going to Lollapalooza and the Warped Tour.

First real big rock show I saw was probably Pearl Jam in Montreal.

When their first record came out, they just had a live out and even flow and not Jeremy yet.

Like we put the French like just like TV news on on the Friday before the gig.

And they had this huge event in Stade de France, which was kind of like Live 8 vibes, like loads of kind of gospel performers from around the world.

And it was, I was like, wow, I kind of want to just be part of the vibe.
