Little Women

I felt at the time it was a little all over the place, like she's trying to touch on all these relationships, but it felt a little more, when watching now, like kind of generous in the way...

I was just saying with Meyerowitz, where it's like this huge... wonderful tapestry of characters and she's each scene has like a purpose in developing each her her principal her teachers the the teacher uh the the football uh coach who has to uh teach the drama class and he's like drawing diagrams on the thing like that guy's hilarious bob stevenson um and and you know great earlier roles for chalamet and for lucas hedges um it's it's just a wonderful movie and and one of my favorite endings of all time um And then I think that brings me to the last movie in this prelude, which is Little Women, which has over the years become quite a punching bag, which is kind of funny because I don't, If you go back to my rating of the movie at the time, it was three out of five stars.

I did not hate the movie, but there was just an experience of watching it.

This is not my memory of your discussion of the movie.

I'm not making that up.

It was one of these things where it's like, I don't know why it became like, this is cancer.

I'd rather get a root canal than watch Little Women.

I think there's an annoying quality to the movie that I felt, even as I was still going, well, that was kind of okay.

But then after that, in 2017, gave us Lady Bird, one of the most probably important coming of age movies of the last 15 years.

Then she dropped Little Women, which I loved.

So she has adapted books before.

And then in 2023, hit us with Barbie.

So I think she is so interesting to me because I really don't have one style I can assign to her.

Because you see Lady Bird on her list and you think, OK, she can make really good independent feeling movies, very quirky characters, a great message at the end.

But then you see Little Women, which is a period piece, which I oftentimes have a really hard time of getting into because I'm just trying to pay attention to like how they're saying words and what they actually mean.

But she nailed that movie.

Whereas Ladybug was just a good film.

Yeah, I also haven't watched Little Women, but that's nothing to do with Greta Gerwig.

The story of Little Women's boring.

I

can't watch the adaptation of Little

Really?

Or Little Women.

Or Jane Eyre.

Okay, you're just going to keep naming movies? I don't know.

That's what it is.

Maybe I need to revisit.

I do think that Little Women is legitimately really good.

Which one?
