Litany of the Saints

And so it's a way of magnifying the virtues or the glories of that particular object.

And, and I love personally, my favorite litany is the Litany of the Saints that we say in the Easter Vigil liturgy.

Yeah.

Because the symbolism there is that you are joining yourself to the saints.

It's probably my second favorite moment during the ordination because while you're laying there on the floor and you're kind of spread out and the idea is just total submission.

While you're doing it, they're praying the litany of the saints.

You know, St. Michael, pray for us.

And we've already heard me complain about this.

Wow.

Father Bowdrin would begin by leading the group of assistants in prayers that would begin with what's called the Litany of the Saints.

They would ask Holy Mary to pray for them.

This often elicited a similar response, and that is the mattress would begin to move.

So yeah, that's how we start here.

And it does tell us it's versicles, little verses, from the Litany of the Saints.

And this is Brother Francis praying as he is putting himself down into the staircase here, just with an improvised torch lighted from the banked embers of last night's fire.

Anytime I read torch in a book, I have to second guess if this is an English author or not.

Uh, and he used to give the, the, the litany, uh, the, the-

...

the Litany of the Saints and the whole lot.

Yeah.

That's a kind of, not there anymore, is it?
