Lisa Tickner

This is her neighbour's very easy model, evidently a very patient woman that she could paint over and over again and she would arrange her pose and dress her up and give her different props.

And I think that relates to Cezanne because it's, you know, there's a way in which he was painting this mountain or an apple over and over and over again because through that repeated focus on one motif, he could kind of... figure out something about painting so lisa tickner described gwen john's convalescent paintings as her mont saint victoire and i thought that was such an interesting thing to notice and true really

so in merdon john was a regular attender at the church of saint martin which is where she also made hundreds of drawings and watercolors of congregants in the church during the services can you tell me about those drawings

Yeah, there's such a fascinating group.
