An organisation maybe is looking at upgrading its forklift fleet.

Do you have a preference to whether it's an LPG powered or whether it's electric? Does it make any difference?

Electric is our preference.

That's the way the world is going.

And LPG has its own challenges in terms of gases that it imparts during the operation of the forklift.

whereas the electric forklifts are much cleaner and it's much easier to charge them.

I had a mate that had it in his car and he reckoned it was the best thing since sliced bread.

And this wasn't like you converted it completely to LPG.

This was LPG that was supporting the diesel.

And I've seen this hydrogen.

I did actually talk to the boss the other day and said, what about this? And he said, oh, look, it's a bit new.

Maybe that's one of those solutions for the future.

And, of course, if you've got this tank that creates it, well, then you don't have that limitation of 300 kilometres before you have to refill.

Yeah, and the thing that's always kind of bedazzled me a little bit is, do you remember back in the late 80s, very early 90s, where every taxi in Sydney had been converted to LPG? Yes.

Tim says, LPG in Toowoomba, 99.9 cents a litre.

He said, I put an LPG kit on the 2016 Territory earlier in the year.

It's great.

The modern injected systems, a lot more efficient than the older ones, so the savings really add up.

We have a huge opportunity to provide that energy.

And this may not be the perfect economic outcome, but I think from a policy perspective, having sufficient egress for natural gas, oil, and LPGs is a great thing to have as a country.

Well, let's talk about LPGs, because I know we were rattling off propane and butane, and I'm going back to my chemistry courses.

So, methane is one carbon, CH4, then it's propane, butane, ethane, I think, is that the next one in the line? And then there's pentane, hexane, so on all the way, octane, and above, octane's gasoline.

Give us the LPG-101 here, altigas and LPGs combined.

Sure.

When you produce natural gas in Canada, and particularly out of the liquids-rich natural gas plays that we have in Northeast BC and Alberta, the Montigny, the Duvernay, these are very prolific basins and some of the best natural gas basins in the world, you get associated natural gas liquids.

So these things are extremely valuable.

And so, you know, India used to source 80% of its LPGs from the Middle East.

In February before the conflict, Philips had signed an agreement to supply LPGs into the Indian market.

But you can rest assured that going forward, countries are going to be willing to pay more to have diversification of supply.

And what that means is you're going to need to have more transport to different markets, which is going to cause a call, an increased call on boats and vessels, because that's your pipeline on the water, if you will.

We've announced our Corpus Christi frac, which will come online in 2028.

And so we're looking to build out fractionation capacity.

We're doing everything that we can from an export capacity perspective in terms of getting those molecules on the water because demand for LPGs isn't growing in the US and it is more of a global market you think about.

The overall project is about 85% complete, while the jetty is about 80% complete as of AltaGas's July 30 update.

The terminal will initially have capacity to export 56,000 barrels per day of LPGs, and it will be the first West Coast marine terminal in Canada capable of exporting butane.

LPG storage capacity will be about 600,000 barrels from three pressurized, refrigerated storage tanks, with one tank intended for butane and the other two for propane.

As such, we expect butane to comprise about one-third of exports from Reef Phase 1.

The PRPA rejected the application due to the exclusivity agreement with AltaGas Vapak, and Trigon subsequently filed legal claims challenging the PRPA's actions.

A civil lawsuit remains ongoing in BC's Supreme Court.

Regardless of what transpires with the Trigon project and AltaGas Vapak's LPG export exclusivity rights on Ridley Island, export capacity for Western Canadian LPGs off the coast of British Columbia is set to grow dramatically in the coming years, with AltaGas and Vapak potentially building over 200,000 barrels per day of capacity at REIF, and Trigon proposing another 76,000 barrels per day.

In our final blog of this series, we'll look at how this coming export growth might impact existing consumers of Western Canadian propane and butane.
