Lionel Ruffel

Our next guest has turned that question into three books and into an argument about politics, language, and the power of staying awake.

Lionel Ruffel is a French literary scholar, a publisher in Paris, and a professor of comparative literature and creative writing at a university in Paris.

He's in Iowa this fall as a resident of the University of Iowa's International Writing Program.

I spoke with him yesterday.

Lionel Ruffel, welcome to River to River.

Yeah, thank you.

Thank you, Ben.

It was perfect.
